Firmware for speeding up HDLC measurement to 10 Mbps for CC-link etc.

Outline

OP-FW10 is firmware to upgrade protocol analyzer LE-7200/LE-3200 to dedicated analyzer that is specialized for High-speed HDLC communication up to 10Mbps. By installing this OP-FW10 to LE-7200/LE-3200, HDLC measurement processing such as the trigger and filter that were processed by software of the analyzer can be replaced to the hardware processing by FPGA built in the analyzer. Therefore, a maximum speed of HDLC supported is vastly improved. After installation of OP-FW10, You can switch to the usual firmware that supports multi protocol by pressing “SHIFT” and “0” keys at the same time when turning on the power of the analyzer. Therefore, it saves you trouble to reinstall firmware.
By using the measurement interface for RS-422/485 equipped as standard to the analyzer, you can analyze High-speed HDLC communication network of RS-485 multi-drop such as CC-LINK easily on the spot.

Operating Instructions

Connect to RS-485 line as shown in the following figure by using the terminal block for DSUB 25-pin (LE-25TB) etc. of an option.

If you need the terminator, turn on by DIP SW on the interface board.

You can monitor HDLC communication network at arbitrary speed up to 10Mbps. ID filter can be individually specified up to 16 bits on the SD and RD side, and the efficiency of analysis is improved. Furthermore, capture memory can be used effectively. At the time of the half-duplex, the frame of a specific address can be divided to the SD side, the other frame can be divided to the RD side, and it can also display in detail. Time stamp resolution that is effective to check the use status of a circuit such as response time etc. can be selected from 1mS/100uS/10uS/1u. Therefore, it is useful for development and analysis of failures of High-speed communication effectively.

When 2 sets of communication data string up to 8 characters (don’t care and bit mask available) is detected individually or sequentially, or when error (CRC error, abort, short frame) is detected, monitoring action can be stopped automatically.

Simulation

Simulation up to 5Mbps is possible. By pressing the corresponded key, 16 kinds of data strings registered in the transmission data table can be transmitted once or repeatedly. It is useful when it is in initial stages of development, and when there are few partner devices to perform high-speed communication.
