Image of Use

OP-SB89G is an expansion board for Ethernet LAN (supporting Gbit), inserting into a slot of portable communication analyzer (LE-8200A/LE-8200). It is a stand-alone LAN analyzer, exchanging the measurement board and line state sheet for LAN signals. The monitor function measures data at real time by simply connecting the LAN cables. The packet generation function transmits frames from the analyzer at wire rate.

It supports PoE (Power Over Ethernet) and PoE+ standards, and able to analyze the communications and power consumption at the same time.

LAN measurement board

(1) PORT A Fail-safe TAP when using On-line monitor, PoE/PoE+ measurement, Statistic analysis function.
LAN port of 10BASE-T/100BASE-TX/1000BASE-T when using PING, Port blinking, PG function.
(2) PORT B Fail-safe TAP when using On-line monitor, PoE/PoE+ measurement, Statistic analysis function.
(3) External input/output Automatically stops the on-line monitor when external signal connected to the TRG IN terminal becomes “L” level.

Monitor Function

It monitors Ethernet LAN and records the 10BASE-T/100BASE-TX/1000BASE/T data frames in the capture memory up to 100M bytes. It displays data on the LCD or filter only specific frames. It has the Fail-safe TAP no to affect the communications between the devices when power shortage of analyzer.

Data Use

Measured data can be converted into pcap format by the utility software (lepcapcvt), and analyzed using the Ethereal and Wireshark (free software).
Furthermore, data can be used in the PC by transferring it via the external memory card.

*1 A USB cable is not provided with the product. Prepare a USB cable if you intend to use USB connection.
The LE2-8V AUX cable provided to the analyzer is available in the case of serial connection.
*2 LE-8200A/LE-8200 can save data in the CF card.
An interface to read the CF card is required on the PC side.

Transmits packets up to 1Gbps line rate.

Packet Generator function transmits the test packets at specified rate to evaluate the processing ability of network devices and to check the action of the devices under the high traffic. Test packets are generated in the FPGA, so it will not be affected by the performance of PC.

Specifies test packets

Specifies frame data of 2 - 7 layers up to 16 kinds and transmits them continuously or specified times. Configuration of transmission frames is easy because Ethernet, Ipv4, ARP, ICMP, TCP, UDP are prepared for each protocol.

PoE Measurement

OP-SB89G has the isolation transformer for PoE/PoE+ and connects not only the common LAN cables but also the LAN cables for PoE/PoE+ devices. It is able to use as the Power logger of PoE and also communication analysis.
PoE/PoE+ measurement data can be saved in the external memory as CSV format file and used by the table calculation software on the PC.

It can measure the Voltage, Current, Power consumption of PD devicek and record mas 4 million of data and tell the statement (OK/NG). It is useful for the devices when it is hard to get their power source, such as Network cameras, access points for wireless LAN, IP telephones.

OP-SB89G has the PING function for linking test, and port-blinking function to find the specific cable to easily fin the cable from the large numbers of other cables. This is not only useful for developing LAN devices but also for installing the LAN devices in the building.
